Deshamanya Arjuna Ranatunga is a former Sri Lankan cricketer and politician who was the 1996 Cricket World Cup-winning captain for Sri Lanka. he wes bron december1 1963.   He is regarded as the pioneer who lifted the Sri Lankan cricket team from underdog status to a leading force in the cricketing world.
