Alastair Cook

 Alastair Cook is a retired English cricketer who was a left-handed opening batsman. He was born on December 25, 1984, in Gloucester, England.Cook made his Test debut for England in 2006 and went on to become one of the most successful batsmen in the history of English cricket. He played 161 Test matches for England and scored 12,472 runs, which is the most by any English batsman and the sixth-most overall in Test cricket.Cook was known for his patient and resilient batting style and was often tasked with facing the new ball in difficult conditions. He also captained the England Test team from 2012 to 2017 and led the team to a series victory in India in 2012, their first in that country since 1985.In addition to his success in Test cricket, Cook also played 92 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for England and scored 3,204 runs. He retired from international cricket in 2018, but continued to play domestic cricket for Essex until his retirement in 2021.Cook was awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2011 for his services to cricket, and in 2018 he was awarded a knighthood in recognition of his contributions to the sport.
